Kemp at the Forum Renovations Revealed

- It's been part of Wichita Falls history since the late 20's and it just got upgraded.

The history built into the Kemp at the Forum building dates back to the late 20's and that history is still being preserved thanks to a major restoration of the building.

Many rooms have new floors and ceilings and one key aspect was adding extra light throughout the building.

The projects were made possible by donors.

Officials say getting the money wasn't as issue because the building means so much to the people of Wichita Falls.

“There's a long history from the 20's, this is a building for the community. It's a large and prominent and historic building people respected it and wanted to see it done right,” says Kemp Center for the Arts Chairman of the Board Dave Clark..

Clark says the building will continue to be used as a multipurpose center.

“As Kemp Center for the Arts it will have art shows, it will have instruction things, classes that will be assembled here, it is available for rental for weddings and large group events,” says Clark.

Although the building has been under construction for about six months and the upgrades are just now being revealed,  Clark says he expects the facility to continue to be a popular event venue.

“Because there is so much interest in the building, it's been leasing for events coming up 6 months to a year, weddings and things when people haven't even seen what it's gonna look like,” says Clark.

He says even though they are now open for business again..not everything is complete

“The only thing that's a challenge as it is in the whole community is the landscaping outside, wee have to kind of wait on that..hopefully it starts to rain again,” says Clark.

A hope many across Texoma have as well.

The renovations cost a little more than 2 million dollars.
