Lines were flying at south weeks pond today, as area kiddos reeled in dozens of fish.

Northwest Texas Field and Stream hosted their annual Kid Fishing Rodeo.

Kids ages twelve and under were invited to bait a hook and toss a line into the pond, in hopes of snagging fish.

Those caught today were released right back into the pond. Organizers say fishing isn't as common in today's generation as past generations, so they host the event to show kids how fun fishing can be.

"A lot of the kids fishing here today I can tell you having talked to them, it's their first fish. And that's an important thing," Larry Carr with Northwest Texas Field and Stream said.

Carr said he was especially grateful for the breezy weather earlier today for this year's event.
