Wichita Falls City Councilors today approved the creation of a nine member committee to study Lake Wichita and develop a plan to improve it.
They amended the resolution to include a second committee member from Lakeside City, who would be a non-voting member.
The committee will study Lake Wichita, which now has a much lower water level because of the drought and years of silt build-up.
In addition to the committee consisting of three city officials and two Lakeside City representatives, councilors will also appoint five Wichita Falls citizens.
Leaders plan to start getting the names of potential appointees at the next city council meeting.
