Large Explosion Reported at the Scene of a Fire on East Scott

A man who suffered smoke inhalation had to be treated with a little oxygen on the scene of a fire this afternoon but fire officials say it looks as though he will be okay.

Wichita Falls Fire Chief Jon Reese says the man was working in the back area of NRG Transportation on East Scott when the fire started.

Chief Reese says the initial call came in as a fire with a hazmat situation due to the nature of the company's business however once they were on scene they elevated the call to a three-alarm due to a large explosion inside the building.

Chief Reese says he is thankful when that happened all of the city's fire fighters were fighting flames at the back of the structure and away from where the explosion happened.

NRG Transportation owner Steve Majewski says they believe a heater they were using in the shop may have started the fire but the cause remains under investigation.
