Officers say they were called about 8 a.m. about an assault at the prison and say Glass was found on the floor of his cell about 7:20 a.m. He was first taken to the prison infirmary, then transferred to Southwestern Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead just after 9 a.m.
Police say glass had no visible stab wounds, but did have bruises and scrapes. So now, police are talking to his cell mate and other inmates to piece together what happened.
"Something could have happened before they got back into the cell and then he collapsed, but we don't know. That's what we're working on right now," says Capt. Craig Akard, with Lawton Police Department.
No charges have been filed, and investigators are waiting on results of an autopsy.
This makes the second homicide in the prison in less than a year.
Last April, an inmate died from injuries received in a fight with another inmate a few weeks earlier. And, the year before, at least two inmates died from stabbing or knife wounds.
Glass had been sentenced to prison five times since 2004, mostly on drug- related convictions. He was sentenced to two years in 2007 for aggravated assault on a correctional employee in Comanche County.
And, his current six year sentence was for bringing contraband into a penal institution.
