Library Reopens Following Water Leak that Damaged Over 2000 Books

The Wichita Falls Public Library is back open today with a few caveats after Monday's flood on the first floor.

Library Administrator Leslie Daly says the youth department is off limits to the public today for safety concerns as some 60 electric fans are running in the building.

She says today, patrons can still check out a book from that department if they submit the request to a staff member in-person today.

The middle and west sides of the library are open to the public, just a little noisier than usual, according to Daly. She also says recently returned items will stay on carts outside the roped-off area for easy access.

This all follows a flood from a malfunctioning water sprinkler on Monday that sprayed water over the shelves and carpet for between 20 and 40 minutes.

Daily says a damage estimate is still pending.
