It's a century old tradition of flower covered floats and music and todaya Texoma boy, killed in a tragic accident three years ago, was honored on a special float during the 128th annual Rose Parade.
In August of 2013, 11- year- old Jared Macias and a friend were riding a horse near the intersection of McFall and Love roads near Kamay when they were hit by a pickup.
The girl suffered a critical head injury but survived Jared died in the hospital. Jared and his family gave four people the gift of life by donating his heart, lungs and both kidneys.
And, that's why the Southwest Transplant Alliance chose the Macias family to be part of its donate life float in today's parade. Jared was one of 60 floral portraits of donors. 24 transplant recipients also rode in the float.
