Local Children's Fundraiser Continues Despite Icy Roads

- The icy roads couldn't stop some Texomans from raising money for local kids in need.

American Legion Riders and The Eagles Lodge teamed up to help the Children's Aid Society in Wichita Falls and The Rac Pac Kids in Iowa Park.

A fun run was planned to raise money and bring in Christmas gifts for the two organizations but the icy roads caused them to cancel.

Instead they are holding a silent auction and indoor poker run.

Organizers say pushing through the weather to hold the fundraiser is important because the kids need the help.

“Christmas is about the kids and that's what it's all about, you know making sure that the kids are taken care of, that's what we put our effort towards,” says Legion Post 202 Rider Ray Slooter.

The event is still underway and is expected to go till 1 a.m.

Four bands will be taking the stage and food will be served for $10.00 a plate.

Organizers say everyone is welcomed.
