Local Woman retiring from Downtown Development after 11 years of service

A woman who spent years helping revitalize downtown has announced her retirement.

After 11 years of services, Cynthia Laney has resigned as Executive Director of Wichita Falls Downtown Development.

Laney has been instrumental in several downtown efforts, including transforming the downtown Wichita Falls Farmer's Market into a multipurpose venue that can be used year round and organizing downtown festivals like The Cajun Festival.

She also was a core figure in developing the vision 20/20 plan to help diversify and grow the local economy by the year 2020.

Laney says she plans to retire to spend more time with her family.
