Making the Grade- Brook Village has New Library

American novelist Elizabeth Hardwick said "the greatest gift is the passion for reading".

And at Brook Village Early Childhood Development Center, teachers and administrators are trying to give their students that gift.

This semester the school has a new library paid for by the school's parent teacher association.

Eddie randle went to brook village today and has the story on all the new stories the kids can now read.

These Pre-Kindergarteners at Brook Village are on their way to a lifetime of passion for books.

And this bright room is a new edition and new chapter in that journey..

Pre- Kindergarten Teacher says

"It was a small room and it was dark and it was at the back of the school and it was really dark for the kids and a confined space.

And the new library has tables instead of carpet squares on the floor.

So the students can now do activities associated with the book they are reading.

And this new palace for books is equipped with a projector---so the students can and read along.

Which teachers say was impossible in the tiny room they used to have.

"Instead of having to squint and having to focus on the book she can project it on the screen and they can see all the colors and they're not missing nothing from the book and its on a larger scale", said Villastrigo.

But this library would just be a dream if it was'nt for the Parent Teacher Association.

Teachers say they went above and beyond to make this story come true.

Villastrigo says "We've had cookie dough sales, carnivals outside, we've had t-shirt sales and they worked really hard to help us purchase these tables and chairs".

But they didn't stop there.

"They were in here putting them together so not only did they raise money for they were in here with their families and assembled the tables and chairs for us, said Villastrigo".

Kids do you like you new library......YES!!!!

Next week Making the Grade shows you how to get your kids ready for Kindergarten.
