Man Allegedly Involved in Fatal Archer Co. Hit-and-Run Turns Self In

Authorities say the man allegedly involved in a fatal hit-and-run crash in Archer County this weekend is now charged.

DPS Trooper Tony Fulton says Jarrod Bruce Smith is charged with failure to stop and render aid.

Fulton says Smith turned himself in to the Archer County Sheriff's Office Wednesday morning.

That crash happened on US 82 about a mile west of Mankins late Saturday night or early Sunday morning.

Fulton says the victim, 28-year-old Jeremy Garren of Albany, was found dead in a ditch with his vehicle on and running on the side of the road.

Fulton says passersby saw a body laying against fence and reported it.

He says it appears the victim stopped his vehicle for an unknown reason and was then hit and killed.

Authorities believe a 2009 or 2010 white Dodge Ram pick-up was involved, and believe Smith was the driver of that vehicle.
