Man Allegedly Punches Guard and Attempts to "Break" His Girlfriend Out of the State Hospital

Sentencing was canceled today for a Wichita Falls man earlier convicted of child endangerment in connection with a case in which authorities say he and his girlfriend allowed a woman to sexually molest their daughter.

Instead of being in court, George Matthew Sapp was back in jail on new charges he assaulted a state hospital employee while forcibly taking his girlfriend from the hospital.

Police say hospital staff said Sapp drove into the state hospital without stopping to sign in, drove to where the patient  was being escorted by an employee from the chapel, got out of his SUV and hit the employee in her stomach and then threw her to the ground, then Sapp and the patient got into his vehicle and left.
Officials say the patient was involuntarily committed to the hospital.

Sapp and Paula Joann Carter were arrested last year when police say Carter reported the abuse. According to police, the girl who was 6 at the time, told investigators she'd been touched and abused several times by Dusti Gamble who was 19.

Police say both Sapp and Carter said they'd been aware of the incidents, had confronted Gamble months prior and they'd agreed not to call police when she promised not to do it again. Sapp said he also recorded a statement from gamble in which she admitted molesting the girl along with other children in the past.

Carter pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 5-years deferred adjudication probation and a $750 dollar fine. Gamble is charged with aggravated sexual assault. She's accused of sexually assaulting the girl between February 2014 and April 1st of 2015.
