Man arrested after driving on Lucy Park trail, damaging bridge

WICHITA FALLS - A Wichita Falls man is behind bars after police said he was driving a pickup on the Lucy Park trail and caused extensive damage to a bridge.

22-year-old Bowie Pohlod was charged with criminal mischief, and his bond was set at $3,500. Police received a report of a suspicious person in Lucy Park around 7:30 a.m. Sunday.

Officers said a truck had been driving through the trails and because of high water, could not find a way out.

An officer reported he saw the pickup drive onto a wooden bridge near the swinging bridge and the bridge collapsed. The bridge suffered extensive damage and the trail there is now closed. Police said the City Parks Manager arrived on scene and said the city wanted to press charges for damages.

Another man at the scene was also charged with public intoxication.
