Man arrested after leading police on a chase Thursday afternoon

We now know the name of the man charged in yesterday's high-speed chase through Wichita Falls neighborhoods.

Bennie Oliver Hargrove is facing five charges, including evading arrest with a vehicle, theft of a firearm and possession of a substance.

Hargrove was arrested following a chase that started near Van Buren and Seymour highway and ended about 4 miles away when police say Hargrove lost control of the car at Maurine and Harlan and came to a stop up over a curb. There was also a passenger in the car who was temporarily detained.

Hargrove also had two drug warrants. In August of last year, police were called to Normandy drive and Trout Street where Hargrove was reportedly banging on a woman's door and yelling at her from outside. Earlier that day Hargrove was allegedly involved in an aggravated assault involving a handgun.

When officers arrived, Hargrove was reportedly acting erratically so he was detained. At the time investigators say they found a large baggy in his pocket with 23 grams of methamphetamine inside.

However, when Hargrove was taken to jail, he was sent to the hospital where he was admitted and taken into surgery.

Police released him there and filed warrants later.
