Man Arrested in Connection with Saturday Crash

A Wichita Falls man is in jail after police say he knowingly drove a car with bad brakes while his two young children were inside.

Police arrested 28-year-old Dekendrick Young for two counts of endangering a child.

Officers say young was driving his Chevrolet Malibu west on Kell Boulevard when he tried to exit on Kemp Boulevard Saturday night.

They say Young knew his brakes weren't working properly and tried to use his emergency brake to stop before causing a three-car wreck.

Neither of Young's children — one 3 years old and the other 5 years old — were in child seats and both had to be taken to the emergency room to be treated for their injuries.

Young also faces a forgery charge for a march 2016 incident. Officers say he tried to cash a check for almost $2000 written by an account that no longer existed.
