Man Arrested in Second School Bus Accident

One man was arrested this weekend after DPS troopers say he rear-ended a Newcastle ISD school bus and sent four students to the hospital.

The accident happened on Highway 251 and True Road Friday afternoon. DPS Sergeant Dan Buesing says a pickup driven by 53-year-old Edward Larance of Kemp, Texas, hit the bus that was traveling north on Highway 251.

Sgt. Buesing says Larance was arrested and taken to the Graham hospital for minor injuries and a blood alcohol level test. Lrance is in jail with a $10,000 bond, charged with DWI 3rd Offense or More.

His arrest record in Young County dates back to 1996 with now seven DWI charges and 5 public intoxication charges along with assault family violence, harassment, and criminal trespass charges.

The four children who were taken to the hospital suffered minor injuries as well. The DPS is still investigating the wreck.

This is the second Texoma bus accident in a week. Last Thursday a car rear-ended an Archer City school bus on Highway 79.
