Man behind bars for alleged sexual assault of a child

BURKBURNETT - UPDATE: Court papers issued April 4th of 2018 stated that a no bill was issued on the allegation against 47-year old Russell Klimek and he would not face trial.

A 47-year-old Burkburnett man is jailed for the alleged sexual assault of a young girl about three-years ago.

Russell Alan Klimek has a bond of $50,000 on the aggravated sexual assault of a child charge.

According to the arrest affidavit, Wichita Falls Police learned of the possible assault in Dec. 2017 and began the initial investigation, then notified Burkburnett Police when they determined the assault happened three years ago in Burkburnett when the victim was about 8.

During the forensic interview the girl said she was at Klimek's home playing when he took her to McDonald's in a pickup and on the way back, he pulled her onto his lap and assaulted her.

The girl said she told her parents about the incident, and said her father told her everything would be okay.

After the interviews, a Burkburnett detective went to the father's home to interview him and possibly get information to locate the suspect.

The detective left a business card in the door when no one answered, and says when he drove back a few minutes later, the card was gone. He said he returned the next day and found the father told him about the accusations, and the man told him he would come down to the police department the next week.

When the man did not show up, the detective returned to the home, got no answer, left a card again, and saw it was gone a short time later.

At this point, police decided to file the charges and issue an arrest warrant.
