Man Convicted of Killing Oklahoma Trooper Hopes to Have Death Sentence Overturned

The former Stephens County firefighter who was convicted of the murder of an Oklahoma State Trooper in 2003 will now try to get his death sentence overturned for the second time.  That appeal is set to be heard October 9th by the State Court of Criminal Appeals.
Ricky Ray Malone was convicted of the shooting of Trooper Nik Green in Cotton County the day after Christmas in 2003.  He was sentenced to die, but the sentence was overturned.
Malone received a new death sentence in 2010 in Comanche County.
Malone shot Green to death with the trooper's own gun after Green found him on a Cotton County road in a car that contained a meth lab.
