WICHITA FALLS - A 37-year-old Garland, Texas man is charged with money laundering after Wichita Falls police say they found just under $70,000 in $20 bills after his vehicle was stopped for speeding.
Andrew Janssen is jailed on $50,000 bond.
A police officer said he stopped Janssen's vehicle in the 1100 block of Central Freeway and says Janssen gave him consent to search. The search turned up a hypodermic needle which then led to a more thorough search, which in turn led to the discovery of a black and pink bag containing almost $70,000 in $20 bills.
K-9 Turko was dispatched and officers say he gave a positive alert to the presence of narcotic odor on the bag.
Police say cell phone records indicated Janssen and his passenger were making trips back and forth from Las Vegas to Dallas with short stopovers between the trips.
They also said texts indicated the men brought a dog name Clover on the trip because it is sometimes a tactic used by drug runners hoping to distract k-9 units.
