Man Quickly Found Guilty of Sexually Assaulting Child Under Age Six


After less than an hour of deliberation, a jury in Clay County returned with a guilty verdict on all counts for a man charged with continuous sexual assault and indecency involving a young girl.

Michael Steven Coburn was found guilty around 5:00 this afternoon on 4 counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child under 6 years old, and also numerous counts of indecency with a child.

He faces 25 to 99 years or life for the sexual assaults and 2 to 20 years on the indecency convictions. Coburn elected to have the judge set punishment and punishment testimony will begin tomorrow morning.

Coburn has been in custody in Montague County since February 2014 on a $1 million dollar bond. The complaint, filed by a Nocona police officer, says Coburn sexually assaulted the girl multiple times from March to October 2013.

Coburn's trial was originally set for last July was reset for October and then was reset again. The trial was moved to Clay County on a change of venue.
