Burkburnett, Texas -
A traffic stop in Burkburnett leads to a drug arrest but not before authorities say they had to tase the suspect as he was trying to get away.
According to an arrest affidavit, July 2, Burkburnett Police pulled over a vehicle driven by 54-year-old Jerry Wayne Monroe at the Bradley Street Trailer Park.
After Monroe failed to show his license or proof of insurance, the affidavit states Monroe was asked to get out of his vehicle because authorities say he was acting nervous.
Monroe told police he had a knife on him and began reaching inside his pockets.
The affidavits states that's when authorities say Monroe began to run away shouting profanities.
The affidavit states police fired a Taser at Monroe but he tried to fight police as they were trying to take him into custody.
Officers say they had to use stun guns and strike Monroe in the head in order to get him under arrest.
Monroe was then transported to the Burkburnett Police Department where police say they found a small baggie of meth on him.
He was taken to United Regional for his injuries before being booked into the Wichita County Jail.
Monroe is charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance Under 1 Gram.
