Man Who Died After Police Chase in Waco is from Wichita Falls

The man who authorities say committed suicide following a police chase in Waco has been identified as 28-year-old Kyle McCurrin of Wichita Falls.

Police say the incident began Friday night when a 59-year-old man was fatally shot when he approached an SUV parked on his mother's property north of  Waco in Abbott. Several hours later, police spotted that car south of Waco in Robinson and gave chase.

Officers say the driver fired several rounds hitting at least three of the police units before the SUV rolled over in Waco. After surrounding the SUV and not seeing any movement, officers say they found the driver dead of a gunshot wound to the head.

The identity was known on Monday but officials were still attempting to contact family members. Autopsy results have not been released.
