A man who fled from Wichita County deputies with a baby in his car is sentenced to 25 years in prison. 35-year-old David Sauls was found guilty by a jury yesterday and sentenced by the judge today.
Saul's testified, against his attorney's advice that he wasn't trying to evade arrest, but looking for a safe place to pull over in the rain.
But deputies say when he finally did pull over, he took off running, leaving a woman and the baby behind. He was arrested after he ran into another deputy's car that was responding to the scene.
Sauls has previous convictions for evading arrest, and the prosecution told jurors the real reason he was fleeing was he had an outstanding arrest warrant.
