Olney police, Young County Sheriff's deputies, and Department of Public Safety troopers are on a massive manhunt in Olney right now, trying to track down an inmate who escaped in the area.
Olney Police Chief Barry Roberts says they're looking for 33-year-old Michael Dennis Rimmer.
Chief Roberts says Rimmer has an extensive history of methamphetamine use and violence, and has assaulted a police officer before.
He says Rimmer was recently sentenced to prison, though he doesn't know in which county or for what charge.
Chief Roberts says a transport service left Louisiana and was driving to different counties picking up inmates that were to be transported to a Florida prison.
Rimmer was one of those inmates.
The drivers of the transport van stopped at the Allsup's convenience store in Olney, then continued to their next stop in Terrell.
That's when Chief Roberts says transport drivers did a head count, and realized Rimmer was missing.
Chief Roberts says he knows Rimmer is in the Olney area, because authorities found his chains, handcuffs, and his shirt laying in an open area.
Rimmer was reportedly last seen wearing blue jeans as well.
If you live in the Olney area, authorities want to make sure you remain alert.
And if you see something suspicious, they urge you to call 9-1-1.
