March Trial date for accused robber

The trial of a Washington state repeat bank robber on local charges filed before those robberies has been expedited and set for special setting in March.

Jeffery Lamont Pool, known as one of the two "Big Top Bandits" in Washington, was extradited last week for trial on two 2011 robberies in Wichita Falls.

Because of requirements in the interstate detainer agreement,  the time frame for trial is shorter than most cases.

Pool and an accomplice were arrested by a special task force in July 2013 after 5 armed bank robberies in about 5 months in the Seattle area. He is serving 9 years in state prison.

They were dubbed the "Big Top Bandits" because of the variety of hats worn during the robberies.

Pool is wanted here for armed robberies committed within hours of each other at a convenience store and pizza restaurant in July 2011.

Deputies say they stopped Pool after a high-speed chase after those robberies, but he got out of the car and ran, leaving a black pellet pistol behind.
