Martin Luther King Breakfast Helps Area Students

- Hundreds of people celebrated the life and teachings of a great American civil rights leader.

The 25th annual Martin Luther King Junior Prayer Breakfast took place at the MPEC Saturday morning.

This year's speaker was actor and minister reverend Clifton Davis.

Davis starred in the hit television shows "That's My Mamma" and "Amen"

One attendee said he loved Davis's message because it reinforced Martin Luther  King's messages.

“He talked about equality for all, justice for all, how the African Americans have come from no where basically or slavery to where we are today, with so many being academy award winners, so many excelling in sports,” says Tom Bursey.

More than 600 people attended the breakfast, which was hosted by the Martin Luther King Center.

Money raised goes towards scholarship funds for area youth.
