Burkburnett now has a new official city manager.

Mike Whaley has been transitioning to the position since the beginning of the year, and Tuesday is his first day to switch from assistant city manager to actual city manager.

Previously he served as the public works director for the city.

He was appointed to that position in 2007 and has worked for the city since 1999.

Whaley takes over for Chester Nolan, who worked with the search firm who helped appoint him and the previous city manager.
