Miles Bench Trial Underway

A competency trial in Stephens County is now underway for a man accused of murdering a teenage girl.

Miles Bench, 22, is charged with the first degree murder of a Velma High School sophomore Braylee Henry, 16.

He pleaded not guilty, and his attorney requested a jury trial to determine if he is competent to stand trial.

Stephens County District Attorney, Jason Hicks, has filed paper work to pursue the death penalty for bench if he is convicted.

Police say on June 6th, 2012 Braylee had gone to a convenience store where bench worked and he attacked her.

Her body was found in a field near Bench's grandparents home.

The autopsy revealed she died from blunt force trauma to the head.
