A military accident investigation board will be in Wichita Falls later this week to determine what caused a T-38 jet to crash last week.

The jet went down in a heavily wooded area Friday morning off Pecanway Drive which is about two miles south of Sheppard in East Wichita County.

Base officials say accident investigation board members will start evaluating information that's currently being gathered by member of the safety investigation board.

German student pilot, First Lieutenant Julius Dressbach and instructor pilot, Major Chris Thompson both safely ejected from the aircraft before it crashed into a field.

And both only suffered minor injuries.

According to Wichita County Sherriff David Duke one of the pilots said a bird strike caused the crash but Sheppard officials say their investigation will determine if that is true in the next few months.
