Missing Bowie Man Found Dead in Gun Safe

- A week after a Bowie man is reported missing, Police find him dead inside a locked gun safe in his home.

Bowie police say the body of 34 year-old Christopher Darden was found yesterday in his home in the 1200 block of Hidalgo St.

Police say the body was found in his bedroom closet in a locked gun safe.
Officials say he had been living alone.

Darden was reported missing by his family last Friday and police say he was last seen on September 10th.

Police say there was no apparent cause of death and at this time they have no indication foul play was involved.

Police had gone to check around the house after he was reported missing, and went back yesterday after obtaining a warrant.

“When we went back yesterday to look at more things to see if there was anything and they could smell the odor of decomposition when they opened the door that led them to get a search warrant on the house,” said Lt. Guy Green, from the Bowie Police Department.

The body has been taken to Dallas for an autopsy.

Officials say they hope to have some information on the cause of death from the preliminary report.
