More Suspected Gang Members Attending Murder Trial

In 89th District Court testimony in the murder trial of 24-year-old Willie Hervey, today focused on evidence authorities gathered at the crime scene and two homes where he may have stayed.

Hervey is charged with the murder of 20-year-old  Mark Hawkins on River Road in 2014. Sheriff's investigators testified about shell casings at the scene that matched the gun they found at one of the residences Hervey used.

Deputies say they found drug contraband and a syringe in the River Road house after the shooting and they say they went to a woman's apartment on Rosewood where Hervey was found and arrested and went to another residence on Avalon and found the gun, and more paraphernalia and drugs.

Deputies say on Easter Sunday of 2014 Hawkins was found dead on his porch with a bullet wound under his arm.
They said Hervey told them he was trying to make a marijuana purchase from Hawkins in Hervey's vehicle and an argument started over the actual weight of the marijuana. He said he told Hawkins to get out of the vehicle, a struggle began and his gun went off.

It appears there may be a lot of suspected gang or former gang members attending this trial.....And after many were seen using phones in the courtroom, judge Charles Barnard barred the use of cell phones in court.

Yesterday, one man was arrested after he left the courtroom for alleged violation of his gang injunction barring him from being in a place where other gang members are gathered....in this case, a courtroom.

Members of the Wichita Falls Police Gang Task Force were called to the courthouse about gang members in the courtroom, and say 23-year-old Stefon Craig Jackson, a member of the hoova crips gang, was in the courtroom with other crip gang members, which include the defendant,  Willie  Hervey, and others.
They say he was not subpoenaed, and his injunction prohibits him from gathering with any other known members of a gang.
It is the second arrest in recent days for Jackson.

He and another reported gang member were arrested after authorities say they purchased a firearm at academy sports, violating their gang injunctions.
Jackson and Jarrett HHendricks were  arrested after the purchase was made, when officers say they came in possession of the weapon.
