Mother given suspended sentence in child endangerment case

WICHITA FALLS - Brianna Cheek23-year-old, Brianna Cheek, has received a suspended sentence for child endangerment after her newborn son and 2-year-old daughter tested positive for meth.

Cheek was arrested in March after blood tests showed she and her newborn tested positive for meth, the baby was removed from her care that same day. Later Cheek's 2-year-old daughter tested positive.

Investigators said Cheek told them she used illegal narcotics while pregnant.

Judge Bob Brotherton sentenced Cheek to two years in jail, then suspended the sentence to three years supervised release.

Conditions for the suspension include total abstinence from narcotics, submitting to five samples a month for drug testing and completing a parenting class.
