An MSU football player is behind bars after police say he hit another man so hard that he's now suffering a traumatic brain injury.

Twenty-two year-old Tino Tuilata is charged with aggravated assault.

According to an arrest affidavit, he punched the victim in the head while he was standing in the parking lot of a bar in the four-thousand block of Callfield Road.

The victim was knocked unconscious and fell to the ground.

Several of his teeth were knocked out.

He also suffered a bloody nose.

The affidavit states the victim suffered a traumatic brain injury and doctors performed a procedure to relieve pressure in his skull.

According to police, Tuilata admitted the incident was unprovoked.

He's jailed on a $50-thousand bond.

Tuilata was listed as on offensive tackle on the 2012 MSU football roster.

The team's sports information director says at this time, Tuilata is still a member of the team.

He does say, though, that Tuilata had previously been suspended for violating team rules.
