Nation Looks to Harrold ISD as an Example in Concealed Guns on Campus
Any time there is a horrific shooting, folks start discussing gun control and guns.
Harrold ISD near Electra has allowed certain staff members to carry weapons at school, school events, and at school board meetings since August 2008.
That decision made it the only district in the nation at that time to allow teachers to carry concealed handguns into classrooms.
Superintendent David Thweatt said at the time the policy was necessary because it takes law enforcement about 30 minutes to reach the school. The district has one school with about 110 students and 15 teachers.
