Officials say two National Guard units have already helped several stranded motorists, mostly in Hardeman County.

The two units arrived in Wichita Falls yesterday after Gov. Rick Perry activated Texas Military Forces to aid those who affected by the severe winter storm.

They'll working up and down highway 287 from Hardeman County to the Wise County line today.

They're helping stranded motorists and taking them to shelters, and if they see a crash, they're helping those drivers until authorities can get to the scene.

Officials say the units will stay in Wichita Falls and be sent out to surrounding areas until the threat of snow and ice is gone.
