Pho Café, located in the Pyramid Center on Kemp in the old Quizno's location, is offering Wichita Falls diners something new for a change.
Co-Owner Lynn Johnson said, "We have pho: P-H-O. It's a beef soup with rice noodles. It's very popular in the United States this day and it's very popular in our country. It's very healthy."
And a new way of giving back.
Dr. Kiet Nguyen, co-owner said, "For the life of the restaurant, all the profit, my portion, 100% will go to the food bank."
And the Wichita Falls Area Food Bank says Dr. Nguyen's generous donation could not come at a better time.
Betsi Lujan of the Wichita Falls Area Food Bank explained, "Our food insecurity numbers are growing. Our children's numbers are growing. We have over 13,000 food insecure children in our area and we need all the help that we can get."
"I know that during the summer, a lot of kids don't have food to eat and I know that this community has a lot of people that need some help, so I thought that's the best way to do it," Dr. Nguyen said.
Dr. Nguyen says while sharing his native cuisine with Texomans is one of the goals of the restaurant, but he says his main goal is to help others.
"It brings pleasure to me. It's fun. It's just really something that I just like to do," said Dr. Nguyen.
Food bank representatives say the number of hungry people in the area is growing by the day.
The money the food bank gets from the restaurant will benefit programs like Power Pak 4 Kids and Kids Café, which provide healthy after-school meals to hungry children.
