Newest Wichita Falls city employees attend first council meeting

WICHITA FALLS - The city's two newest employees attended their first city council meeting this morning.

Assistant City Manager Paul Menzies started on Tuesday and Director of Community Development Dana Schoening started his role exactly a week ago.

Both say they are excited to be in Wichita Falls and say they are each looking forward to making contributions to the city.

"I'm thrilled at the opportunity to serve this community. Long family history, my grandfather served this community for a long time, he's kind of my mentor," Menzies said.

"I'm very, very happy to be here. This is a really good opportunity for me professionally in looking at the community development field," Schoening said.

Paul Menzies' position was created following the retirement of Jack Murphy as the Parks and Recreation Director. He will focus on the general oversight of the community development department and will assist with the annual budget and the progress of the city's strategic goals.

Schoening will be responsible for developments such as planning and zoning, building and code enforcement and neighborhood resources.
