No dogs euthanized in animal cruelty charge

WICHITA FALLS - We have an update on a story we did on a woman charged with cruelty to animals after authorities say 13 dogs were found in a small apartment in filthy conditions, we are told all but one of those dogs survived.

Angel Bright Sargent was charged on January 24 with 13 counts of cruelty to animals.

Police found the dogs in a rear apartment in the 1700 block of 6th Street while investigating a disturbance.

Officers called animal control to the scene after discovering the dogs were crammed inside an apartment with feces and urine covered floors,  and their fur was also covered with it.

Authorities allege Sargent abandoned the 13 dogs in her custody without making arrangements for their care and confined them in a cruel manner.        

Of those 13 dogs, one puppy died of an unknown illness while in care at animal services. None had to be euthanized,  Five were adopted and seven were transferred to local rescue partners.
