Cattle egrets are expected to make their way back to Wichita Falls over the next few weeks and city leaders need your help keeping them on the move.
They may be beautiful, but officials say they pose risks to public health and pose real dangers to aviation. Once the birds nest, they are federally protected. So, city leaders hope to keep them from laying eggs in the city limits.
If you spot an egret, you should call the non-emergency number for dispatch, 720-5000.
They suggest you also bang metal trash can lids together or find other ways to make a lot of noise to keep the birds moving.
