The officer involved in the last shooting in Wichita Falls is back on the job.

Police officials say in May, Officer Stephen Ginger fatally shot 22 year old Joshua Powell after he refused to put down his weapon. Two months later, they still have not said what kind of weapon. Officers say Ginger was the first to arrive on the scene, where he saw Powell holding a weapon. They say when Officer Ginger told Powell to drop the weapon, he did not comply, and then was shot
and killed by Ginger.

Officer Ginger is a ten year veteran and is back working with another division. He is not back on patrol. And, as is the usual procedure, the report of an internal investigation and autopsy will be presented to a grand jury for review. The outcome of that review will determine whether Officer Ginger will go back on patrol.
