The feasibility study for the new reservoir, Lake Ringgold in Clay County, would cost up to $357-thousand, but would be paid for by the Tarrant Regional Water Authority, which may help develop and use water from the reservoir.
The City of Wichita Falls bought the 5,000 acres in the 1980s, but has never sought the funding to build the reservoir.
The rights and regulations as a designated site for a reservoir expire in 2015, unless the process of development of a reservoir are underway.
