Officials suspend search for soldiers missing from Black Hawk crash

Officials have suspended the search for a Hirschi High School grad and four other army soldiers who were in a helicopter crash in Hawaii last week.

A Coast Guard official said searchers mounted the best search that they could. Two Black Hawk helicopter crews were conducting training off the western tip of Oahu when one aircrew lost contact with the crew whose helicopter went missing.

Even though the Army hasn't released the name of the missing soldiers, family members of Stephen Cantrell have told Hawaii media outlets that he was the pilot. Cantrell is a 2003 graduate of Hirschi High School.

His family is still holding out hope that he will be found alive.
