Oklahoman Arrested for Allegedly Attempting to Deposit $700,000 in Bad Checks

An Oklahoma man suspected of passing $700-thousand dollars in bad checks is in the Wichita County jail today.

20 year old Yaw Ferkah-Ahenkorah of Chickasha was arrested yesterday around 4:00 pm when officers discovered him at the Wells Fargo on Southwest Parkway trying to deposit $283-thousand dollars in checks.

When questioned police say he told them college friends from the "University of Science and Arts" had given him the checks and he came to the bike trails in Wichita Falls where a friend told him to deposit them at Wells Fargo.

Officers say they later discovered he had attempted to deposit two other bad checks totaling $440-thousand at the Wells Fargo on Kell East.  He is charged with forgery.
