Olney man reacts to Newcastle tragedy

Services are now set for a 31- year old Graham mother, a hospice nurse who was killed yesterday in an unusual and tragic accident.

It happened in Newcastle, DPS Sergeant Dan Buesing says when a pickup, going westbound on 380, had a blowout.

That caused the driver to swerve and hit a parked car that Kelsi Messick was inside of at the time.

Kelsi was a caregiver for Chris Widner's Father, for about two hours yesterday he says the two of them really got to know one another at the ER In Olney where she stayed by his father's side.

"We got to visit a lot.  She told me about her son, and how she was looking forward to taking him on vacation come labor day weekend." Chris Widner, Olney resident

Chris says their visit ended at the Olney ER around 4. The accident that claimed this young mother's life happened in Newcastle just about 30- minutes later.

"It just breaks my heart, but I want him to know his mother was a great person.  My family thought the world of her, my mom and dad.  I know her family will miss her." Chris Widner, Olney resident

Family and friends will gather tomorrow evening in Snyder from 6 until 7 for a visitation, at The Miller Family Funeral Home.

Kelsi's funeral service is set for 3 pm Sunday at Colonial Hill Baptist Church in Snyder with burial following at the Hillside Memorial Gardens.
