You can help make this Independence Day extra special for local veterans by sending them a thank you card.
Employees with area senior citizen communities are organizing their second annual "Operation Thank a Veteran" program.
They ask community members to go online and fill out a form which is then turned into a thank you card for veterans.
Last year they delivered more than 300 cards, and this year they want to top that number.
To find out how you can make your own card with a personalized message, you can visit http://www.presmanor.org/
And this Fourth of July, a group of volunteers will deliver those cards to retired seniors at Presbyterian Manor, nursing care residents at Perkins-Prothro Health Care Center, and Alzheimer's and dementia patients at the House of Hope.
