Lawton Police say a previous shooting will not be a factor in the investigation for an officer who is on administrative leave for a weekend shooting he was involved in.

OSBI is investigating the fatal shooting that happened Sunday in the 4100 block of Park Ridge.

Both Officers, Anthony Edwards and Eli Garcia, shot a man after a third officer yelled "gun," after a man came outside of his home.

Garcia was also involved in a shooting last year, however Lawton PD says in that incident Garcia's actions were ruled justified and the case has been closed.

Currently both Garcia and Edwards are on administrative leave while OSBI investigates.

Two Lawton police officers are on administrative leave after a deadly weekend shooting.

Early Sunday morning, Lawton Police were dispatched to a call of vandalism.

One officer on scene says when a man, identified as 47-year-old Daniel Martin, opened the door he heard another officer warn of a gun and shots were exchanged.

Martin, who was inside the home, was shot and pronounced dead on scene.

Both Lawton officers Anthony Edwards and Eli Garcia are on administrative leave. Its the second shooting Officer Garcia has been involved in in less than a year.

He was cleared to return to duty last July after the shooting of an armed man on Santa Fe.

Officials with the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation are now handling the case.
