Shoppers at the downtown farmers market in Wichita Falls got a sweet treat today.

Cars packed the parking lot as folks rushed in to slurp down samples of peach smoothies for peach day at the market.

Watermelon and cantaloupe smoothies were also available.

Petrolia High Schools cheer team sold peach day t-shirts to benefit their squad and farmers in Petrolia.

Red river trails farmers said events like peach day allow families to learn a lesson on locally grown food.

"I think a lot of families come out here to be educated to their children, so i really like that because at the same time there isn't that much education at the farms and where are food sources come from so i love that," said Nita Hays, a Red River Trails Farmer.

The days event went so well there were only 8 bags of peaches left for samples at 10 this morning.
