Possible New Company To WF & Dozens of Jobs

It's been about 5- years since the Saint Gobain plant shut down, and now Wichita Falls and Chamber of Commerce and Industry may have finally attracted a new company.

Next Tuesday, the city council may act on a package of incentives approved by the 4A Board for Eagle Rail Car Services.

They operate railroad car repair and refurbishment facilities in Texas.

Mayor Glenn Barham says the idea originated with a scrap metal company now in operation, that would be able to use some of the material from old rail cars that are repaired and reconditioned.

Another prime requirement for such a facility would be a rail line, that still exist here.

Glen Barham/Wichita Falls Mayor:  "Local folks have purchased that property and they salvaged a lot of the existing equipment and structures that were out there, but they maintained this one facility.  Fortunately we've got a company that found out that facility  was available and now it looks like they're coming to town."

The recommended incentives would total up to $928,000  to create at least 64 jobs.

Eagle Rail Car would invest $7,000,000 for land and improvements for the facility.
