Preliminary Water Tests of Reuse Water Showing Positive Results

- The water that comes out from the emergency water reuse pipeline is now being tested.

Water has been running through the system for about a week, testing to see if all the pieces and parts of the system are working together correctly.

Public Works Director Russell Schreiber says so far things are running pretty smoothly.

“We had a little issue with the pumps, a little bit of issue with the meters but we worked all that all we got that running correctly now, no problems there. We've done some preliminary sampling for different things. We're hitting right in where we thought we would, actually below in some constituents. The water's actually a little cleaner then we thought it would be,” says Schreiber.

The TCEQ is supposed to approve the official water verification tests to start by the 27th.

Schreiber hopes the emergency water reuse pipeline will start recycling an extra 5 million gallons of water a day into our system in May.
