Private Showing of "Last Picture Show" Kicks off "Last Book Auction"

    Hundreds of thousands of Larry McMurtry's collected books at his "Booked Up" stores in Archer City won't be auctioned off without a tribute the film that made the town famous.
    "The Last Picture Show" is based on the novel by the same name, which was written by McMurtry.
    There will be a private showing of the film in Archer City tomorrow night to kick off this weekend's "The Last Book Sale", during which 300-thousand books from McMurtry's book stores in Archer City will be auctioned.
    The film will be shown at the Royal Theater following a barbeque dinner which lasts from 5 until 6:30 Thursday night.
    You can head over to the Booked Up #2 location to get your hands on a ticket.
    Tickets are $50 a piece.
